How to Prepare Your Vehicle for Transport
Proper preparation is key to smooth and successful vehicle transport. Follow these steps to get your car ready for its journey.
Thoroughly Wash Your Car
A clean vehicle allows for a more accurate pre-shipping inspection. By washing your car, you’ll be able to clearly identify and document any existing scratches, dents, or other imperfections. This documentation protects you and helps prevent disputes upon delivery.
Check Battery & Fluids
Ensure your vehicle is in good working order before transport. Check your battery’s charge and inspect all fluid levels, including oil, coolant, and brake fluid. A well-maintained vehicle ensures smooth loading and unloading processes.
Remove All Personal Belongings
Transporters are not responsible for personal items left inside your vehicle. To avoid loss or damage, remove all belongings, including valuables, electronics, and paperwork. This also helps reduce the overall weight of your vehicle, potentially impacting shipping costs.
Keep Fuel Tank Low (1/4 Tank Recommended)
Maintain a low fuel level, ideally around a 1/4 tank of gas. This is sufficient for loading and unloading purposes. A full tank adds unnecessary weight and poses a potential fire hazard.
Take Detailed Photos Before Pickup
Document your vehicle’s condition with clear, high-resolution photos and videos from all angles before pickup. Pay close attention to any existing damage and ensure it’s clearly visible in your documentation. This photographic evidence serves as a valuable record and protects you in case of any discrepancies.
